On a voyage of 2.5 million light years, who is to say what one will encounter? I say when you leave the relative safety of the Milky Way, all manner of horrors will accost you. The dimension we are familiar with will be left behind as we pass through the membrane that separates "our" space from what Aliens refer to as 'Tween Space. No need to go into detail since no generation on earth today will have the technology to see it. Suffice it to say the Milky Way has it's own reality and Andromeda has it's. What lies between is 2.5 million light years of 'Tween Space that contains unimagined mysteries.
The Milky Way is visible through the triangle shaped opening in the membrane and Andromeda is visible through the sickle shaped opening. Good luck on your very, very long voyage.
