Amid an unprecedented spike in violent crime in Oregon, voters will be deciding this election if strict gun control is the answer.

"The measure is designed to absolutely guarantee that people will not have the means to protect themselves and to dox anybody who attempts to comply with the permit process," said Kevin Starrett, director of the Oregon Firearms Federation.

Ballot measure 114 would create a gun registry that would make public the personal information of everyone who applies for a permit to purchase

Under Ballot Measure 114, every future purchase or transfer of a firearm will require a permit.

Although Law Enforcement agencies are the only organizations that may provide the course, they are not obligated to deliver it.

Without initially passing a law enforcement weapons training course, applicants cannot receive a permit.

It could be hard for first-time gun owners to get a permit.

Ballot Measure 114 outlaws ammunition magazines with more than 10 rounds that are standard capacity for the vast majority of handguns.
