This is going to probably be the first of many epic fails that we will be sharing with you so hopefully you don’t make our mistakes!

In Episode 6 we revealed that we bought 10 acres in Cochise County Arizona and how excited we were. We committed to buying the property and when we got to it to walk it, we had a little trouble getting onto it. We were assured that there was legal access and we did know about a 30 foot easement that ran along the eastern edge of the property. That same eastern edge backed up to State of Arizona State Trust Lands. We thought we would easily be able to gain access through those Trust Lands because they were only used for grazing. We spent about $900 on all of the application fees and ended up being denied since there was “legal access”. That legal access was going to be impossible for us to get a car over it much less get our RV over it!

We had been getting an uneasy feeling about this land and when we heard about the State also denying us, we took it as a sign to move along before we spent much more money or wasted more time! So, it was back to the drawing board and there wasn’t much to choose from in Cochise County. We found three parcels that were all around 40 acres and we headed out from Denver to Drive to Arizona on a quick weekend trip…14 hours each way…ugh! Anyhow, on the drive there we found out one of the lots was under contract already. When we got to the second lot, it was impossible to access…it was down a mile long ungroomed sand road and would have been too difficult. The third lot was the ticket! It was beautiful with slight rolling hills, in a neighborhood of other 40 acre parcels, and had fantastic access…we fell in love with it! We are making our offer this week and will keep you posted :)
