UPCOMING: The disappointingly spartan Nightjet 🇦🇹 🇩🇪 🇳🇱

This Sunday's video is the trip report that I was looking out for - for quite some time. Unfortunately, it all wasn't as positive as I had hoped, but hey, mistakes can be made. It's never to late to learn to not just assume any sleeper train is a good one.

After having traveled on the California Zephyr a few years back, I always wanted to do something like that again. But being in Indonesia, there are no multi-day train trips possible, the longest being just over 12 hours nowadays. We also had a few years of pandemic regulations so I only got to a sleeper train again in April 2022.

The Nightjet sleeper train from Vienna to Amsterdam is among the most popular routes in Europe nowadays, but I think it’s really overrated with a bad bed and an even worse breakfast. The thing is, doing a sleeper train should be a relaxed trip, but it was probably better just to hop on a low-cost carrier?
