Coyote tries to snatch dog from a residential backyard
2 years ago

"Urban" coyotes often switch from diurnal (day) or crepuscular (twilight) activity to nocturnal (night) to avoid contact with humans.
Urban residents might misinterpret daytime sightings as a rise in the urban coyote population or that the coyote could be rabid, neither of which are necessarily true.
During spring and summer, coyotes usually have pups to raise and feed, so being out and about for more of the daylight hours is necessary as they need more food than usual.
