PHASE IV 1974 - Desert ants suddenly form a collective super-intelligence and begin to wage war on the human inhabitants. It's up to two scientists and a stray girl they rescue from the ants to halt the insects, and figure out how it happened.

A somewhat obscure and under-rated Science Fiction Gem from the 1970s that is a must see for any Sci-Fi film fan. It deftly combines 1970s popular sentiment about the ecology and environment with superb production values and an intelligent story-line, without using giant creatures. One of my personal favorites of the time.
