Beginner MegaMek Guide 01: How to Install, JDK11, Map Selection, Force Selection, RAT, sarna.net

Firstly, this is a shortish guide on installing MegaMek if you've already got a JDK version after 11, as I've had a couple of friends unable to play through installation error, and this is often the problem.

After this I show how to setup your first quick game with a single lance of 'Mechs each. First we look at the map selection screen, then how to select a force 'Mech by 'Mech, and how to add Princess as a bot player.

Then I show the different RAT generation settings (I'm still getting my head around some of these myself, if in doubt, use the BV selection type), how to edit pilot skills, name and portraits, then how to start a game with the players entering the field on the correct ends of the map.

I also show off sarna.net, the most invaluable tool for learning which 'Mechs do what (and much, much more).
