Quickie: Garrison v. Louisiana

Extending the free speech protections of Sullivan, the Supreme Court ruled that truth is ALWAYS a defense, the burden of proof is ALWAYS on the accuser, and that criminal prosecutions of libel are only valid in limited scenarios.

Above all, malicious statements made against public officials are still protected under the First and Fourteenth Amendments even if they're false and made with ill will.
