MEAD VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) — Two dogs have been impounded after mutilating and killing a number of goats in a herd Saturday in Mead Valley.

"I heard the goat scream but I really didn't pay attention to it," Elizabeth Leal said.

Leal said it wasn't until much later that she realized the sounds she was hearing were her neighbour's goats being mutilated.

According to the Riverside County Department of Animal Services, the two dogs wandered off to another property and attacked and killed several goats.

"It's not very uncommon for us to come across a dog killing a pet, but these dogs apparently got into it and attacked a whole bunch of these goats," said John Welsh, spokesman for the Department of Riverside County Animal Services.
