Today we are going to be covering the well-known story of Li Ching-Yuen, a man who was reported to have lived to 256 years. We cover other examples of Extreme Longevity and ponder upon the methods in which they achieved this great age. There are countless legends and myths speaking of humans reaching much longer life spans than we do now in the modern-day, so why has this been forgotten, or was it purposefully suppressed? Li Ching-Yuen, also known as Li Ching-Yun, was a Chinese herbalist, martial artist, and tactical advisor who claimed to have lived for 256 years. His exact birth date is uncertain, with some sources suggesting he was born in 1677, while others claim 1736. Li spent much of his life gathering herbs in the mountains and was known for his extensive knowledge of medicinal plants. He reportedly lived on a diet of herbs and rice wine, attributing his longevity to a peaceful mind and inward calm. Throughout his life, he was said to have married 24 times and had over 180 descendants. In addition to his herbalist work, Li served as a tactical and topography advisor in the army of General Yue Zhongqi and later taught martial arts. He was known for his remarkable physical appearance, described as having good eyesight, a brisk stride, long fingernails, and a ruddy complexion. Li Ching-Yuen's longevity claims have been met with skepticism by gerontologists, who consider them to be a myth. Nevertheless, his story continues to captivate people around the world. He used 60 years of his life to establishing himself as a famous and influential figure in the realms of psychiatry and sexuality. - The pineal gland, conarium, or epiphysis cerebri, is a small endocrine gland in the brain of most vertebrates. The pineal gland produces melatonin, a serotonin-derived hormone which modulates sleep patterns in both circadian and seasonal cycles. The shape of the gland resembles a pine cone, which gives it its name. The pineal gland is located in the epithalamus, near the center of the brain, between the two hemispheres, tucked in a groove where the two halves of the thalamus join. The pineal gland is one of the neuroendocrine secretory circumventricular organs in which capillaries are mostly permeable to solutes in the blood. - Nearly all vertebrate species possess a pineal gland. The most important exception is a primitive vertebrate, the hagfish. Even in the hagfish, however, there may be a "pineal equivalent" structure in the dorsal diencephalon. The lancelet Branchiostoma lanceolatum, the nearest existing relative to vertebrates, also lacks a recognizable pineal gland. The lamprey (another primitive vertebrate), however, does possess one. A few more complex vertebrates have lost pineal glands over the course of their evolution. - The results of various scientific research in evolutionary biology, comparative neuroanatomy and neurophysiology have explained the evolutionary history of the pineal gland in different vertebrate species. From the point of view of biological evolution, the pineal gland is a kind of atrophied photoreceptor. In the epithalamus of some species of amphibians and reptiles, it is linked to a light-sensing organ, known as the parietal eye, which is also called the pineal eye or third eye. - René Descartes believed the human pineal gland to be the "principal seat of the soul." Academic philosophy among his contemporaries considered the pineal gland as a neuroanatomical structure without special metaphysical qualities; science studied it as one endocrine gland among many. -

- One lazy afternoon in the 1890s, legendary inventor Nikola Tesla was lounging around his laboratory with his good friend Samuel Clemens, also known as the famed writer Mark Twain. The two had a longstanding relationship, and Twain, who was notoriously fascinated with science and technology, was a regular visitor at Tesla’s laboratory. - By this point in his life, Twain was, as Tesla described, - “…in the worst shape, suffering from a variety of distressing and dangerous ailments.” Thus, on this particular afternoon, Tesla suggested that Twain try out a new invention he’d been working on, a mechanical oscillator that sent vibrations through the body at various frequencies. Most people would likely agree that corruption exists in multiple areas of our lives, and the documentary film Second Opinion shows how the medical field and government agencies that are supposed proponents of the health of American citizens are not immune to such corruption. The films' mission is to once again uncover a cover up of a natural "drug" that has not only been proven effective in slowing the growth of cancerous tumors, but is also cheap and virtually unpatentable; the latter being the implied and suggested reasoning behind the cover up. Laetrile is a substance that remains illegal in the United States today although it is currently being clinically tested internationally in countries including Germany, repeatedly tested positive over the years in tests with lab rats as an affective method of slowing and even temporarily stopping the growth of cancerous tumors. Laetrile is derived from the pit of apricots, and while outlawed it is not harmful. In the late 70's, cancer patients were running to Tijuana in large numbers to obtain laetrile injections, nearly1/10th in fact, but then something changed. In Second Opinion Ralph Moss Ph.D, who was hired as the Science Writer in Public Affairs for Sloan Kettering (a prestigious American cancer research institute where laetrile studies were originally conducted) gives us an in depth look at how the opinion of the public was swayed in opposition to the treatment that tested overwhelmingly positive until the testing was taken over and results purposely tainted by the powers that be. Wolfe, M.D. • The Orgone Accumulator is a device that was invented by Wilhelm Reich, a research scientist and physician, in 1940. The device is a six-sided box constructed of alternating layers of organic and metallic materials. The organic materials attract orgone energy, while the metallic materials radiate the energy towards the center of the box. Patients would sit inside the accumulator and absorb orgone energy through their skin and lungs. The accumulator had a healthy effect on blood and body tissue by improving the flow of life-energy and by releasing energy-blocks. Wilhelm Reich's discovery of orgone began with his research of a physical bio-energy basis for Sigmund Freud's theories of neurosis in humans. Reich believed that traumatic experiences blocked the natural flow of life-energy in the body, leading to physical and mental disease. Reich concluded that the libidinal-energy that Freud discussed was the primordial-energy of life itself, connected to more than just sexuality. Orgone was everywhere and Reich measured this energy-in-motion over the surface of the earth. He even determined that its motion affected weather formation. Not everyone liked the theories Wilhelm Reich suggested. Wilhelm Reich's work with cancer patients and the Orgone Accumulators received two very negative press articles. Journalist Mildred Brandy wrote both "The New Cult of Sex and Anarchy" and "The Strange Case of Wilhelm Reich". Soon after their publication, the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) sent agent Charles Wood to investigate Wilhelm Reich and Reich's research center, Orgonon. In 1954, the FDA issued a complaint about an injunction against Reich, charging that he had violated the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act by delivering misbranded and adulterated devices in interstate commerce and by making false and misleading claims. The FDA called the accumulators a sham and orgone-energy nonexistent.
