Continuing the story of God of War (2018), Ragnarok takes place three years after the events of the prior game. It also happens to take place as the Fimbulwinter reaches its end, the prelude to the prophesized Ragnarok. As the title suggests, the game will deal with Kratos and his son Atreus trying to prevent, or bring about, Ragnarok.
