How can I compete with more established investor if I am a new investor?

Good question.

First of all, instead of setting a target of trying to compete with me, you should focus on the basic steps of trying to learn how to do the basics of investing. You also should focus on competing with yourself and not other investors.

One thing that is so critical is to get a proper education in investing. Reading books is helpful but can’t take the place of having a mentor. The type of mentor that you choose should be one that you respect and want to learn from.

Don’t be afraid to reach out to them. There is no reason to be intimidated about asking for help. You should get used to asking for things if you are going to be an investor you will need to on a daily basis ask for things from people to be able to put deals together.

You also should start going to the Benjamin Z Miller weekly investor meetings on Sunday where I educate investors on these and other topics. You also can meet sometimes extremely wealthy and successful investors that have a lot of experience at these meetings. Many of them are friends of mine that I have known for years.

The other thing is don’t compare yourself to a professional investor that has 30 years of experience. You need to take it one day at a time and work hard every day. A good plan is to work no less than 80 hours per week with 90 to 100 being a much better choice. If you fall into this work habit of working 7 days per week for many years with time you will surpass many competitors.

Granted, you may never catch up to me, but that is not what matters. What matters is that you are trying to learn. If I can help you or another investor that wants to learn and understands that there is a financial cost and many years of hard work required, then reach out to me.
