I got in a fight today

I normally stand on the sideline and keep my mouth shut, but today was out of control.

My son was playing in a soccer game, 9 year olds, and we were up by 5 with 10 minutes left in the game. The ref, who I’m guessing was about 14 years old, made a call that our parents didn’t agree with. One parent, a grown man, literally reached out and started screaming at this young lady. I had to say something, reminding this parent that the ref is only a kid and at the end of the day, it’s just a kid’s soccer game.

As a youth ref myself, I know there is a ref shortage. The main reason is that parents are abusive to refs.

Do better parents, you’re setting a horrible example for your kids.
