The story of Elijah's confrontation with the prophets of Baal is one of the most famous in the entire Bible. However, most readers quickly pass over the preamble to this monumental event. I Kings 18 starts with the evil King Ahab splitting the kingdom into two search areas to look for water. Ahab goes one way and he sends his palace administrator, Obadiah, the other way. Instead of finding water, however, Obadiah finds Elijah, the very man Ahab has been seeking for the past three years.
