Why Erysichthon Eats Himself? | Greek Mythology | Mythical Madness

Thessalian king Erysichthon destroyed the sacred grove of the goddess Demeter in order to construct a feast hall for himself. The goddess punished him for the crime by giving him an insatiable appetite that made him spend all of his wealth and, in the end, compel him to eat his own flesh out of desperation.
