1.5. Delivered from Sin and Death

Christ came to deliver us from sin and death. Yet what is sin? The word sin comes from the Greek word “hamartia” which literally means, “a missing of the mark”. Yet sin is not merely doing something wrong. It is an actual force that enslaves us. Sin and death is powers that hold mankind captive. We are totally enslaved to it, and we cannot set ourselves free from it. Like Israel, who could not deliver themselves from the Egyptians, we cannot deliver ourselves from sin.
