Intel has just shipped their crypto-mining ASIC at the worst possible time.
Crypto has had a huge crash which along with increasing electricity costs is forcing miners to sell off a ton of hardware.
So Intel has unfortunately hit a pretty awful timing for their new ASIC.
And that stands for Application-Specific Integrated Circuit & basically.
It’s hardware that’s really good at doing one thing like bitcoin mining or like proof-of-work mining.
Apparently Intel’s hardware is a lot more energy efficient than other options & overall it’s good to have some more hardware specifically designed for crypto out there in the wild.
So that next time when crypto raises, maybe we’ll still be able to buy some GPUs.
