Knowledge of Good and Evil

If we’re not supposed to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, why does religion force-feeding us the knowledge of evil

1John 2:29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.

1John 2:5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we, are “in Him.”
