Many individuals travel about 10 miles to the Illinois community of Bath every year to participate in this unique tournament. The inaugural tournament was conducted some 17 years ago and has since become a significant occasion. An Asian fish native to the Great Lakes region is being introduced yearly to reduce the amount of South China white bream in the Illinois River. The colourful fish are seen in a video taken on August 5. As boats carrying fishermen travelled along the river, they were outfitted with nets and helmets, and silver swaths rose to the surface repeatedly. They appeared to be popcorn. Jim Vorass, a contest participant, exclaimed, "The scene is wild!" After being captured, fish are utilized for various things, including animal feed, fertilizer production, human nourishment, and scientific research. According to the organizers, proceeds from the event will be donated to local charities, such as those supporting homeless veterans in need.
