The government shutdowns, restrictions, and stimulus created huge economic distortions and forced people to look local for their vacation during 2021. The artificially low-interest rates didn’t help either as investors were more than happy to speculate. From Toronto to Calgary and all the way to Mexico speculation and mania spread. This could cause rent prices and real estate prices to absolutely crash in 2023 during a major recession if not a depression.
