"But in those days, following that distress,
“‘the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken." - Mark 13:24-25

Jesus is here quoting the prophet, Joel, using typical apocalyptic imagery associated with the end of the world. It shows how the evil people do on earth doesn’t just affect us here on earth, but it disrupts the harmony of the heavens and the entire universe.

This was illustrated by the way that a supernatural darkness covered the land at the crucifixion of Jesus, and there was a great earthquake at his death. So, the evil and corruption in the world in the last days will also illicit upheavals of nature both on earth and in the heavens.

Think about your life, and you’ll see this principle at work. Think of how wrong choices have ramifications that go far beyond the moment and impact many lives. What examples from your own life can you think of?

But it works the other way as well. When you choose what is good, it also has consequences that extend far beyond the present, in fact, into eternity. What simple choice can you make today to choose what is good? I encourage you to choose it.
