All About Spermidine

Spermidine is a naturally occurring polyamine which means it has two or more amino groups. Polyamines decrease as we age and with oxidative stress. Spermidine increases autophagy, which is the body's way of cleaning out damaged cells, in order to regenerate newer, healthier cells. It reduces cardiovascular disease and neuro-inflammation, improves brain function, prolongs lifespan and reduces all-cause mortality.

Foods rich in spermidine include wheatgerm, grapefruit, chickpeas, mangos, shitake mushrooms, corn and aged cheeses.

Spermidine is not recommended if you have active cancer growth; however, it reduces the risks for getting cancer. It is also not recommended for people with gluten allergies; however, there are gluten-free formulas available.
