Excerpt from letter written to the Swedish Migration Board on the 17th of August, 2023:

"3. Det tredje skälet till att jag vill avstå från att ansöka om asyl är respekt för minnet av min fästman Yusuf som mördades som en direkt följd av den avvisning som utfördes av den svenska gränspolisen i oktober 2013. Yusuf migrerade till Europa via Spanien och Frankrike till Sverige 2011. Han tvångsavvisades till Tchad (Tašād) av den svenska gränspolisen, ett land som han inte kom ifrån (Från förvaret i Kållered mejlade han mig att han hoppades kunna skickas tillbaka till Spanien eftersom han hade tagit sig in i Schengenområdet där. Det var det sista meddelandet jag fick från honom). Vid den tidpunkt då han avvisades till Tchad (Tašād) befann sig landet mitt i en inbördeskonflikt som uppstått efter Muammar al-Gaddafis fall i Libyen 2011. Tchad (Tašād) hade varit ett Libyskt protektorat före 2011 och efter Muammar al-Gaddafis fall imploderade landet i våld. Efter att Yusuf utvisad dit i oktober 2013 försökte Yusuf lämna Tchad. När han närmade sig gränsen överfölls han av en grupp beväpnade män och dödades. Yusuf och jag planerade att gifta oss i mars 2014 i Lövnäskyrkan på Hammarö. Han greps av den svenska gränspolisen i september 2013 och refoulades i oktober 2013. Någon hittade en adressbok på hans person och var vänlig nog att skicka ett e-postmeddelande till hans syster i Rabat om vad som hänt. Hon mejlade mig för att berätta i januari 2014."

"3. The third reason I want to decline to apply for asylum is respect for the memory of my fiancee Yusuf who was murdered as a direct result of refoulement carried out by the Swedish Border Police in October 2013. Yusuf migrated to Europe via Spain and France to Sweden in 2011. He was forcibly refouled to Tchad (Tašād) by the Swedish Border Police, a country he did not come from (from the detention center at Kållered he emailed me that he was hoping to be sent back to Spain because he entered the Schengen Zone there. That was the last communication I had from him). At the time he was re fouled to Tchad (Tašād) the country was in the midst of civil conflict derived from the aftermath of the 2011 fall of Muammar al-Gaddafi in Libya. Tchad (Tašād) had been a Libyan protectorate before 2011 and after the fall of Muammar al-Gaddafi the country imploded into violence. After Yusuf was deported there in October 2013 Yusuf attempted to leave Tchad; as he was nearing the border he was set upon a group of armed men and killed. Yusuf and I were planning to get married in March of 2014 at Lövnäskyrkan in Hammarö. He was detained by the Swedish Border Police in September 2013 and re fouled in October 2013. Someone found an address book on his person and was kind enough to email his sister in Rabat about what happened. She emailed me to tell me in January 2014."
