This innovative new mode of transportation is currently being tested in Kaiyo Town, Tokushima Prefecture in Japan.According to Shigeki Miura, CEO of the railway company Asa Coast Railway, which operates the DMV, this special vehicle could make it easier for small towns like Kaiyo to move around. "DMV can reach local people in the form of regular buses and transport them on railway lines," said Shigeki Miura. "Especially for rural areas with an aging population, we expect this to be a kind of public transport that can meet many people."A DMV can carry 21 passengers and reaches a maximum speed of 60km/h on railways or 100km/h on asphalt roads. This type of "hybrid" transportation could revolutionize travel in small towns and rural areas.
