Aaron Dean Trial: Closing Arguments!

Closing arguments will take place today in the murder trial of Aaron Dean, the former Ft. Worth police officer who in October 2019 shot and killed 28-year-old Atatiana Jefferson in her home while investigating a suspected burglary in progress at her residence.

On October 12, 2019, at 2:30AM then Ft. Worth police officer Aaron Dean responded to a call by a concerned neighbor for a welfare check on a home with the front door left open and the lights on.

While investigating around the outside of the home with a flashlight, Dean observed a person with a gun inside the home, just feet away. Dean ordered the person to drop the gun, then quickly fired a single shot. That single shot killed Atatiana Jefferson, who was in the home babysitting her 8-year-old nephew.

Within two days Dean had been charged with murder, and within four he had resigned his position as a police officer.
