REAL FRIENDS

Proverbs 18:24 King James Version
24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

This verse above means a lot to me people, because every time I read this verse, I see David and Jonathan in it. I see what it means to be a real friend, and part of that is being willing to be an encouragement and show God's love to someone to truly build them up. I really loved this morning's passage of scripture because you see just how truly loyal Jonathan is to David, even if it costs him his own life. I think that's why these questions from this morning's devotional were so challenging to my heart, and I'd like to share them with you tonight. Please read these questions very carefully, and I pray that God will challenge you through them too.

What role does friendship play in your sense of well-being?

I have to say with this question, for me it plays a significant role, but nothing, and I mean nothing could be even more important than my relationship with Christ. Reading this morning's passage of scripture, and seeing the loyalty that Jonathan had for David, really encouraged me, and made me think of the few true and loyal friends that I do have in my life. That even though we're separated by distance, I know that they're there for me. What I'd like to do with all of you right now, is share some thoughts that God's put on my heart through this vlog with all of you tonight, and I pray that you see what it means to be a real friend for life. So, my friends, as I close this post with all of you tonight, I want to leave you with this final question from this morning's devotional, and I pray that it will get you to thinking about how you can be a real friend.

How could you show God's love to someone and build them up?

I encourage you to seek God every day in this area and ask Him for ways in which you can be a real friend. Ask him to show you ways that you can show His love to someone, so that it will build them up, and help them when they really need it the most. I challenge you ask God to help you find ways where you can encourage a friend today as well as every day and watch how He works through you. Because even in the darkest seasons of life, true friends are a joy that produce a bond that will never ever fade away.
