FULL EVENT: Bronx Community Board 10 Holds Public Meeting, Votes on Proposed Bruckner Sites Rezoning

On May 19, 2022, Bronx Community Board 10 hosted a public meeting at the Greek American Institute in Pelham Bay on a controversial Bruckner Boulevard development proposal that would require an amendment to current zoning in Throggs Neck.

Members of the community spoke both in favor of the development and against it, although the majority who spoke were opposed. Representatives from the 32BJ property service workers union and the housing advocacy group Open New York also spoke in favor of the development.

4:30: City Council Member Marjorie Velázquez did not attend, but sent a statement that was read by the board. According to the statement, she was not able to attend due to threats made against her.

27:56: The developers, Throggs Neck Associates, gave a presentation on their proposal.

1:20:40: At the end of the public meeting, the majority of board members voted Yes on a resolution to draft a letter of disapproval to the City of New York City Planning Commission on the matter of Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP) application C220007ZMX, the Bruckner Sites Rezoning application.

1:25:35: New York State Senator Luis Sepúlveda also spoke briefly at the end of the event about his expectation that he will be representing the Throggs Neck area in 2023 due to redistricting.
