Modern anti-tank missiles use solid propellent that is embedded in a plasticizer with a hole down the center to serve as the combustion chamber. The entire engine is encased in an insulator. When fired, the propellent burns from the inside of the hole out toward the edge of the insulator.

Some missiles have "Pulse" motors which solve the problem of not being able to turn a solid rocket motor off by separating the motor into multiple stages using insulators.
