Invest in LAND, Cowboy upbringing led to REITs | Andrew Vargas

If you’re desire is to own a piece of land or maybe retail buildings and the like; you can do so by owning a fractional ownership, by investing into REITs. #land #property #reit

For me, I fit in that category where I own a property but I also want to own a large parcel of land or multiple commercial buildings, just that it’s not currently possible but by investing in a REIT I get to benefit by owning a share of it.

Most are pulblicly traded like stocks so they can be highly liquid. Majority of REITs make their income based on collecting rent and in return provides the shareholder dividend income and long term capital appreciation.

From my understanding these REITs have to pay at least 90% of their taxable income to shareholders, and here’s a couple well known reits
