"A Degree Won't Keep You Warm at Night"

I got pregnant with two semesters left at Uni. I had to drop out and moved closer to my parents. In my mid twenties I went back to school and waited tables 7 days a week to take care of myself and my little one while completing school. One day while I was working, I had a man ask me what my last name was (???). When I told him, he asked me if it was my maiden name or my married name. When I told him I wasn't married, he asked me "what's a cute girl like you doing unmarried?" I responded that I was a single mother and finishing school. He told me that a degree won't keep me warm at night.

Well dear reader, this past weekend I graduated with a double bachelor's and I have an associates degree from a community college that will be finished in the Spring. I've just sent a scan of my bachelor's diploma to a website to have a blanket made out of it. I guess a degree DOES keep me warm at night 😎

(Jokes on me though, I'm getting married next fall)
