The Best Joy-Con Charger Ever!! | RetroFlag FC Joy-Con Charging Dock

In this episode, we unbox and test out my new favorite charger for Joy-Cons, the RetroFlag FC retro-style Charging Dock.

If you are a fan of the Nintendo Switch, you may know that having enough chargers for Joy-Cons can be a bit of a pain. thankfully, the team at RetroFlag has got an amazing new charger, and it adds some import retro styling too! I love the Nintendo Famicom, I love everything about it. The games, the system, the controller, it's one of my favorite systems. So when I was cruising Amazon recently to check out the new Retro flag switch grip, I happened to see this, and I had to have one.

Designed to look like the Nintendo Famicom, this charging dock can charge two different switch Joy-Cons at the same time. You mount them on either side of the system, just as you would Famicom controllers. In the end, it nails the aesthetics and is so much fun to look at.

Simple in its design, the FC charger recreates many of the aesthetics of the Famicom and gives them practical applications in this charger. The power switch and eject button are LEDs to indicate that the unit is charging. The cartridge slot holds a faux cartridge that holds four Nintendo switch games for convenient storage. The eject lever actually works to eject this cartridge. Overall a lot of clever thought was put into the aesthetics of this. The AC adapter port was replaced with a USB C port for charging, thank you for not using micro USB! The Joy-Cons can only go into the FC charger in One direction, and that's due to the placement of the analog sticks. They could have perhaps moved the Joy-Con rails out a little bit from the center of the body, but then they would sacrifice scale accuracy. Well, I don't love that fact, I completely understand why they did it.

Should you buy one?
Okay, this is one of the easiest recommendations I've ever had to make, yes, if you are a fan of the Nintendo Famicom you need this. They have precisely matched the scale of the Famicom Classic and the Joy-Cons to deliver what is my new favorite charger for extra Joy-Cons. The aesthetics completely sells this, even if I never use the cartridge for storage of games I love everything about the looks of this. I do wish that the cartridge decal was vinyl versus more paper, and the Joy-Cons can only be inserted in one direction, but beyond those minor gripes, this thing is absolutely brilliant. And for 25 bucks, I've wasted $25 on bad lunches versus something like this that I absolutely love.
