Education Vs. Training

There is a deep confusion in the US in particular about the usage of the word education and the usage of the term training. We seem to be mixing up these two concepts or at least not differentiating between them properly. The question that I am trying to tease out here is what happened to these terms? Why is the distinction important? Where did our education system go horribly wrong?
Join me on a journey to work out the important issue of education vs. training and how we can better understand what happened and why it should matter to all of us.
