Israel made a nation, in 1948

On May 14, 1948, the day before the expiration of the British Mandate, David Ben-Gurion, the head of the Jewish Agency, declared “the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the State of Israel”. The only reference in the text of the Declaration to the borders of the new state is the use of the term, Eretz-Israel.

Jerusalem won back, in 1967

The Six-Day War was fought between June 5 and 10, 1967 by Israel and the neighboring states of Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. On June 11, a ceasefire was signed and Israel was left in control of the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights.

Revival of the Roman Empire 1957

In 1957, the Treaty of Rome extended the earlier cooperation within the European Coal and Steel Community and created the European Economic Community, establishing a customs union. The European Union is a politico-economic union of 28 member states that are located primarily in Europe.
