FACT CHECK: Did Fox News Report On This Quote From Elon Musk?

An image shared on social media purportedly shows a post from Fox News attributing a quote to Elon Musk stating some animals “are more equal than others.” Verdict: False

The image was digitally fabricated, the quote is from George Orwell’s book, “Animal Farm.” There is no evidence that Fox News reported this quote from Musk or that the Twitter CEO has made such a remark.

Fact Check:

Musk recently claimed he will resign as Twitter CEO when he finds “someone foolish enough” to take the position, according to The New York Times. A new release of “Twitter files” alleges the FBI pressured the company to claim Hunter Biden’s laptop was found by a Russian operation, according to The New York Post.

The Instagram post purportedly shows a post from Fox News that quotes Musk incorrectly. The image features Musk with a quote from Fox News with words clearly written over it. “TABLES HAVE TURNED,” the post reads. “Elon Musk suspends CNN, NYT, WaPo Journalist, reminding them the rules also apply to them.”

The post has been digitally altered. There are no credible news report that suggests Fox News reported this. The outlet’s social media accounts also show no such report on any of their verified social media accounts or on their website.

The original post from Fox News shows a different quote that is accurately attributed to Musk, “Criticizing me all day long is totally fine, but doxing my real-time location and endangering my family is not.” This quote was in response to Musk receiving criticism after banning several Twitter accounts, including journalists and an account that shared his private jet’s flights, records of which are available to the public. A similar account is still up on Instagram.
