In recent times, there has been an increase in the study and research on various plants and the compounds in them due to the psychedelic qualities. Plants like magic mushrooms are being studied because they contain psilocybin, a psychedelic that is believed to help people suffering from depression, especially when those people are facing life threatening circumstances. The research to find more sustainable solutions for other mental health illnesses such as anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD and addiction also involves studies on other psychedelics such as LSD, DMT and Ketamine. What is funny is the fact that the healing and therapeutic qualities of these compounds and substances isn’t exactly new to us. For many millennia, perhaps even as far back as 9000 BC, the hallucinogenic qualities of these psychedelics have been known to mankind and even till this day, certain communities all around the world have been known to use these psychedelics.
