In 2015, a unique exoplanet K2 18b was discovered about 124 light years away from the Earth. The exoplanet is 8 times larger than earth and it is orbiting a red dwarf star.
In 2019 water was discovered on K2 18b, and the announcement raised excitement among the researchers. It was for the first time that a rocky planet orbiting in the habitable zone of its star with liquid water was found.
Unfortunately, the excitement was short-lived because K2 18b is having a hydrogen atmosphere. Apart from that the temperature and pressure are far too high to support any kind of life.
