A CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC NOT A DEMOCRACY!

Dan Smoot was born in Missouri. Reared in Texas, he attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, receiving his BA and MA degrees from that university in 1938 and 1940.

In 1941 he joined the faculty at Harvard as a teaching fellow in English, and did graduate work for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of American civilization.

In 1942 he took a leave of absence from Harvard to join the FBI. At the close of the war, he stayed in the FBI rather than return to Harvard.

He served as an FBI agent in all parts of the nation, handling many different assignments. But for three and a half years he worked exclusively on Communist investigation in the industrial midwest.

After nearly ten years in the FBI, Mr. Smoot resigned and became an independent publisher and radio-television commentator.
