Nothing But Sky - Waiting for the Wind (Be Free! - Live demo)
What we have to be, is FREE!
The original live demo of "Waiting for the Wind" from 1991. Direct 2-track with Nothing But Sky in Branon's basement. I added the opening effects from the 4-track version (Animal Farm reference). Started writing the lyric while standing on the hill by the old UNCG Music Building overlooking Tate Street. The chorus is inspired by The Monkees' "For Pete's Sake" chorus (just a little angrier). "All we've got to be is be free!" etc. That song was used for the closing credits in Season 2 of The Monkees TV show. At the end I yell, "for Pete's sake!" which isn't actually in the original 'For Pete's Sake.] 😂 Not sure how ol' Pete would feel about it. 🤔
Lyrics and music by Michael Scotto
Craig Glasheen: lead guitar, backing vocals
Branon Edwards: guitar, backing vocals
Michael Scotto: bass, vocals
Scott Peters: drums
The track was later rewritten as "Believe"
