Coronado Island Christmas 2022

Coronado Island is located just across the harbor from San Diego. Land was purchased in 1886 for the purpose of building a resort community. In 1888 Hotel del Coronado was built and remains active today. From 1900 to 1938 a Tent City was in operation to provide accommodations for those who could not afford the Hotel. There were over 1000 tents. The beach is voted as the best beach in the United States. It's pristine and sparkles when the sun hits the sand; the sparkling is due to the mica mineral in the sand. And the sunsets are spectacular.
