Camping Junction Creek to Junction Falls
The first time I tried taking my friend Stu backpacking through sheep-river, the river was swelled to belly button height because of spring thaw and precipitation. He got swept into the current and became submerged losing his bear mace and getting soaked. Early season river crossings in the rockies are risky and dangerous so be careful out there!
Elbow-Sheep wildland in Alberta offers beautiful scenery without the need to reserve a campsite beforehand, what we like to call "wild camping". We embark on a journey to Junction Falls in early winter as the seasons takes a shift. Cold weather sweeps in and a snowstorm approaches our campsite on top of a windy ridge. The nights are negative temperatures and the mornings are brisk but the days turn out to mostly be sunny. We collect firewood, fire-grill steaks, bear-hang our food, embark on a nature walk, play in the snow, and visit a waterfall.
Enjoy a taste of what Canadian Wilderness has to offer.
