In this video, I discuss what makes Bitcoin so special and unique. It is quite unlike any other cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin is a historical happy accident: it was able to be born and grow under the radar for many years, and its creator/founder left early enough in the project to remove himself as a single point of failure, subject to bribery, extortion, or torture.

Bitcoin benefits from its first mover advantage, the Lindy effect, and multiple network effects (brand, miners, full nodes, devs, mindshare).

Bitcoin has the highest hash rate of any proof of work cryptocurrency, and it successfully negotiates the trade-offs between speed, security, and decentralization.

Bitcoin prioritized unchanging monetary policy and security early on in its history, in order to make sure that the new money was built on a firm foundation. Now it is able to grow in a layered fashion (as the internet did), with various Layer 2 (like the Lightning Network) and Layer 3 solutions being built on the original secure Bitcoin blockchain.

Ultimately, the hardest and soundest form of money always wins. Investors who are focused on dog coins and NFTs today are like people who were focused on sea shells over gold, failing to understand what hard and sound money looks like.
