Walmart Panhandler Says He Isn't Scamming, "Out Of Gas" But Never Stopped For Gas? | Jason Asselin

Just after noon my phone lit up with messages about a couple with a child in front of Walmart, Iron Mountain, MI panhandling. I drove up to where I could see them and found their vehicle parked nearby. I sat and watched as a cook from a Storhiems restaurant walked out and gave them money, he must have believed that sign and saw the gas can. Shortly after this panhandler walks up to me and we exchange words.
He tells me in conversation that he is NOT homeless, they own a home in Denver, Colorado and are just trying to get back. He said he drove to this area for a job he seen on FB Marketplace, but it didn't pan out. To me HIS story just doesn't pan out either..
With in 20 minutes of me being there I drove over to see his vehicle and they must have gotten spooked because right after they left. Over and over he said "we're trying to get home" and said home was Colorado but when they left, they went east!! Colorado is west and south.. Are they lost?
I tried to catch up to tell them they were going the wrong direction but they never stopped, not even for this gas they needed so bad! Huh!
I know he was scamming people and taking advantage of people's generosity in our community. They passed 7+ gas stations and kept going, so they had plenty of gas to drive away from where they want to go...
