Was the attack on Kyiv a genius diversion or wishful groupthink?

I saw a college professor imply that he was considering banning followers who said that the Russian attack on Kyiv was a genius diversion.

And it struck me that refusing to hear the other side of an argument is exactly how you attack Kyiv and fail.

During World War II, the British had chess masters and crossword puzzle experts work alongside of mathematicians to try to break the German enigma codes. Why? Because diversity of thought is important when solving problems.
