The Thin Veneer Of Society

The veneer of society works, for the most part. You can go to the grocery store, go out and catch a movie, be around complete strangers for a majority of your day and it's all fine. You can meet up with a random stranger from an app, go out to dinner with them, and even go back to their place and most of the time nothing bad happens. You can hop in a random car and have a random person drive you to whatever random spot you need to go to. When it works, it works. When it doesn't, it doesn't. Why is that?
