Transparency In Government

Its easy to want to hide our mistakes. To pretend it never happened and bury it in the furthest place from our mind. The problems with this mindset are often most easily viewed in the context of government officials as they play out on a much larger scale. In failing to own up to your mistakes, it not only denies you the opportunity to learn and grow, it calls your integrity in to question. We all make mistakes. We are all wrong at one point or another. That's just part of being a human. Maybe that's why the knife cuts so deep when people lie or try to cover up a mistake. Maybe that's what causes the bad feeling you get when you yourself do it. We inherently know that it isn't the right decision, that honesty is the only true way through.
