Should we pray for God's wrath?

Should Christians pray for God's wrath to be poured out on wicked unbelievers? The squishy Christian church has created this impression that the wrath of God is a bad thing, that it means there was a failure in the system somehow. But how can it be a bad thing if it's God's plan. Isn't God's plan perfect? Is it biblical to pray for wicked people to bow the knee to Christ, and if not then for the wrath of God to be pour out onto them?
