John's rock bottom
As John sat at the table, lost in thought, he heard a knock at the door. He groaned and got up, his head still pounding, and opened the door to find his best friend, Jerry, standing on the other side.
"Hey man, I saw your lights on and figured you might be up," Jerry said, a concerned look on his face. "Are you okay? You look like hell."
John let out a bitter laugh. "I feel like hell," he said. "I don't know what's happening to me, Jerry. I've lost everything, and I don't know how to get it back."
Jerry put a comforting hand on John's shoulder. "It's not too late to turn things around, man. You just need to take it one day at a time and make positive changes. And you don't have to do it alone. I'm here for you, and I know a lot of other people are too."
John felt a glimmer of hope spark inside him. Maybe Jerry was right. Maybe it wasn't too late. He made a decision then and there to start fresh, to get sober and to work on rebuilding his life.
It wasn't going to be easy, but with Jerry's support and the help of others, John knew that he could do it. And as he looked out at the bright, new day, he felt a sense of determination and purpose that he hadn't felt in a long time.

That night, after a long day of making positive changes, John and Jerry retired to bed, exhausted but content. They fell asleep wrapped in each other's arms, feeling a deep sense of love and friendship that would see them through even the toughest of times.
The end.
