She had to overcome all of that without being a total wreck (which she wasn't. she did exactly what she needed and knew how to do) during a time when counseling and psychology were not popular or accessible amongst the more blue-collar or right-wing in nature. With all that said. Mom was alone in her struggle to survive, and the rest of us just get by.
