NPC stands for Non-Player Character. NPCs are people who live their everyday lives conforming to the status-quo like sheep. They never question the mainstream media narrative and are mostly commercial consumers. They also lack imagination and creativity. Many people use The Matrix analogy, but I think the Star Trek holodeck with the hologram characters is a better example.
