The praying mantis is a ruthless predator who will use its spiky legs to fight off and eat small reptiles, lizards, spiders, moths and even mosquitoes. They are especially fierce when it comes to small insects like ants as they have no problem taking down prey much larger than themselves. They can be found in gardens where they will wait motionless until an unsuspecting victim wanders by. When the time is right, the mantis will strike with lightning speed using their powerful front legs to grab and hold on while their other spiky legs are used for tearing apart prey.
